GPCE

AMDF presence at Sydney’s GPCE brings mitochondrial disease to the attention of GPs.

On the weekend of the 20th of May, the AMDF held a small information stand at the exhibition component of the General Practitioner Conference and Exhibition at Sydney’s Olympic Park.

GPCE 2011The GPCE is Australia’s premier Primary Healthcare event organised by GPs for GPs. The Sydney GPCE was held over 3 days and featured 41 seminars, 78 workshops designed to give GPs unparalleled access to the leading experts, medical researchers and scientists from across Australia.

As to be expected, this environment provided a wonderful platform for discussion about mitochondrial disease at the AMDF’s information stand.

A number of kind volunteers spent time over the weekend, sharing their knowledge and experience of mitochondrial disease with GPs, as part of their continuing professional development.

Not only did delegates receive recently published information on how to treat the disease, but they were also privy to a ‘Meet the Expert’ session, conducted by Professor Carolyn Sue and Dr Christina Liang on ‘Mitochondrial Disease – A Medical Enigma.’
