Running for Rex20 September 2009
Running for Rex was part of the Blackmore's Sydney Running Festival in 2009 that happened to coincide with Rex's first birthday. Rex was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease in June 2009 at the age of six months. A close family friend put together a team of about twenty runners to participate in the festival as his way of doing something to help. Their sponsors and the local Griffith community raised more than $35,000 and some of these donations were matched by Macquarie Bank where some of the fundraisers worked. It has been one of the AMDF's most successful Supporter Event raising around $50,000 in total.
